Yoga Teacher Training Course in Rishikesh

Yoga Teacher Training Course in Rishikesh

http://uttarakhand-tourpackages.com/yoga-meditation/yoga-meditation/

Ancient History of Yoga: The first historical references of Yoga are from the seals found in the ruins of the Indus Valley Civilization (in modern India & Pakistan), circa 3000 BCE. These seals depict Yogic-type postures. Pashupati is the deity often depicted which various scholars connect to Shiva in the later traditions; also known to yogis as Adiguru (first teacher) of Yoga.
Yoga” derives from the Sanskrit word “Yuj” which literally means “to yoke”; and in terms of philosophy it is very similar to Sankhya philosophy. While there are no direct references to Yoga in the ancient Indian texts of wisdom called the Vedas; the abstract philosophical ideas put forth are the same that yoga would later assume. The first literal references to Yoga-like practices as a means of meditation appear in early Buddhist works; whereas in Hindu scriptures the word ‘Yoga’ first appears in the Upanishads (around 400 BCE). Yoga-related practices are also discussed in Jain texts.

Twenty Nine Properties of India inscribed on the World Heritage List Nanda Devi and Valley of Flowers National Park one of them.

Historical Description

Established as a national park with effect from 6 November 1982 as per Notification No. 3912/14-3-35-80 of 6 September 1982, the intention having been declared under Notification No. 2130/14-3-35-80 of 18 August 1980. Dang (1961) provides an historical account of the exploration of the Handa Devi Basin. The first recorded attempt to enter the sacred basin was by W. W. Graham in 1883, but he was unable to proceed beyond the gorge of the lower Rishi Ganga. Subsequent attempts by Dr T. G. Longstaff in 1870 and Hugh Ruttledge in 1926, 1927 and 1932 also met with failure. Finally, in 1934, Eric shipton and H. W. Tilman pioneered a route to the 'Inner Sanctuary' by forcing a passage up the gorge of the upper Rishi Ganga. Later, in 1936, Tilman and N. E. Odell made the first ascent of Handa Devi, reputedly the most outstanding mountaineering success of the pre-Second World War era. It was their accounts of this natural sanctuary that first drew attention to the spectacular mountain wilderness (Tilman, 1935; Shipton, 1936), following which the area was established as a game sanctuary on 7 January 1939 (Government Order No. 1493/XIV-28). Commonly referred to as 'Handa Devi Sanctuary', the name was changed to sanjay Gandhi National Park at the time of notification. This met with local opposition and the site was gazetted as Handa Devi National Park. The park was inscribed on the World Heritage List in December 1988. The park constitutes the core zone of a much larger area (200,000ha), extending as far north as the Dhauli Ganga, that has been proposed as a biosphere reserve (Indian National MAB Committee,

River Rafting and Camping in Rishikesh

Rafting or white water rafting is the challenging recreational outdoor activity of using an inflatable raft to navigate a river or other bodies of water. This is usually done on white water or different degrees of rough water, in order to thrill and excite the raft passengers. The development of this activity as a leisure sport has become popular since the mid-1970s. It is considered an extreme sport, as it can be dangerous

White water rafts

The modern raft is an inflatable boat, consisting of very durable, multi-layered rubberized (hypalon) or vinyl fabrics (PVC) with several independent air chambers. The length varies between 3.5 m (11 ft) and 6 m (20 ft), the width between 1.8 m (6 ft) and 2.5 m (8 ft). The exception to this size rule is usually the packraft, which is designed as a portable single-person raft and may be as small as 1.5 metres (4.9 ft) long and weigh as little as 4 pounds (1.8 kg).
Rafts come in a few different forms. In Europe and Australasia, the most common is the symmetrical raft steered with a paddle at the stern. Other types are the asymmetrical, rudder-controlled raft and the symmetrical raft with central helm (oars) or Stern Mounts with the oar frame located at the rear of the raft. Rafts are usually propelled with ordinary paddles and or oars and typically hold 4 to 12 persons. In Russia, rafts are often hand made and are often a catamaran style with two inflatable tubes attached to a frame. Pairs of paddlers navigate on these rafts. Catamaran style rafts have become popular in the western United States as well, but are typically rowed instead of paddled.

Camping is an outdoor recreational activity. The participants (known as campers) leave urban areas, their home region, or civilization and enjoy nature while spending one or several nights outdoors, usually at a campsite. Camping may involve the use of a tentcaravan, motorhome, cabin, a primitive structure, or no shelter at all. In many parts of the world[where?]camping refers exclusively to the use of tents or similar portable structures.Camping as a recreational activity became popular in the early 20th century. Campers frequent national or state parks, other publicly owned natural areas, and privately owned campgrounds. Camping is a key part of many youth organizations around the world, such asscouting. It is used to teach self-reliance and teamwork
